Keep Basements Warm

Insul-Tarp Acts As Effective Ground Insulation

When you ask around, you’ll find most construction professionals understand the benefits of insulating homes properly. They are first to recommend the right kind of insulation for walls and roofs, but hopefully they don’t forget the importance of ground insulation. If a homeowner spends any time in their basement during the winter, they can attest to the fact that the biggest source of cold is the lack of proper ground insulation.

Cold temperatures cause the ambient temperature in the soil and cement foundation surrounding a home, which in turn keeps basements colder than the rest of the home, year round. During the winter this can cause major problems for people living in colder climates. Construction projects that use Insul-Tarp ground insulation during the cement slab pouring process will keep the heat inside and the cold out, right where it belongs.

Insul-Tarp ground insulation is even more effective when you can recommend it in tandem with radiant floor heat. When Insul-Tarp is present it acts as a radiant barrier and forces the heat from the radiant heating cables upward, which in turn warms the floors more efficiently and prevents wasteful heat loss into the ground or surrounding walls and windows. Recommending Insul-Tarp to homebuilders will help keep their basements warm during the extra cold months and acts as an effective ground insulation year-round.
